Igor Mikoda was born on April 16, 1982 in Lubartów. In 1997, he enrolled at the School of Fine Arts in Lublin. In 2002 he obtained a woodcarving diploma. In the years 2002-2008 studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań – Faculty of Sculpture and Spatial Activities, in the studios of prof. Józef Petruk, then prof. Wiesław Koronowski. In 2008 he obtained a diploma in the field of sculpture and drawing in the 1st Sculpture Studio of prof. Józef Petruk and the 1st Drawing Studio of prof. Jacek Strzelecki. In 2013, he obtained a doctor degree in arts in the field of fine arts in the artistic discipline – fine arts; in 2020, the title of habilitated doctor. He works as a University Professor at the University of Arts at the Faculty of Sculpture and Spatial Activities UAP and as a Graphic Arts Department at Collegium da Vinci in Poznań. Since 2008, he has been the head of the Student Biennale of Small Sculptural Form and the co-organizer of the original project of prof. W. Koronowski Brigade Pygmalion. Since 2016, the manager and organizer of the National Sculpture and Drawing Workshops – “Młode Skoki”, aimed at high school youth. From 2016 Head of the Department of Sculpture; from 2018 the Head of the Department of Realization Techniques at the Faculty of Sculpture of the University of Arts in Poznań. Member of the Sculpture Program Council at UAP; member of the Art Review Committee at the Artistic Education Center. Igor Mikoda works in sculpture, graphics, drawing and graphic design. Man is at the center of his creative expression, he creates figurative and realistic forms or non-anatomical structures and spatial installations. His works are spatial hybrids – the interpenetration of solids, structures and a drawing gesture. It tries to show the creative freedom and plasticity of matter torn from the canon, presents the infinite possibilities of autonomous creation. Author of over 25 individual exhibitions, and participant of numerous group exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including in Germany, Belgium and Switzerland.
